The RM of Sherwood No. 159 would like to remind landowners that stockpiling snow in the municipal ditches, roads, and approaches is strictly prohibited. Stockpiling snow in these areas creates several problems with snow drifting, sightlines, and other issues that arise during spring melt—such as debris blocking drainage patterns and potentially flooding adjacent properties. Moreover, it is illegal to create a snow-storage facility which accepts snow from external locations.
Snow dumping and/or piling of snow in the RM’s road right of way or on any other lands is prohibited under the RM of Sherwood’s Zoning Bylaw (Bylaw No. 18/17) and Traffic Bylaw (Bylaw No. 10/15). Any proposed snow storage facility shall first obtain a development permit from the RM, and site development must be in strict adherence to the Saskatchewan Snow Dump Management guidelines. These guidelines, and more information regarding penalties for illegal snow dumping and/or piling can be found here.
If you see unauthorized snow storage, please contact the RM office as soon as possible.
Thanks for your continued Cooperation!
