Important Message from White Butte RCMP regarding increase in Thefts and Break and Enters

Font size A A A

In the last few weeks there has been an increase in break and enters in the White Butte, Southey, Milestone, Lumsden and Moose Jaw Detachment.  These break and enters have occurred at all times of the day, with 8-9 am and 10 pm to 12 am being the most common times for ones in rural areas and the overnight hours in the towns and villages.

In response to the increase in break and enters a task force has been created with the affected detachments and the Regina Police Service.  Extra patrols (both day and night) have been implemented to patrol the areas and stop vehicles in the area in order to bolster our presence.  Coordination with Regina Police will help identify target vehicles and information can be shared between both agencies in the event target vehicles are located.

The RCMP asks that if ratepayers see anything suspicious, experience a break and enter, and/or have any video/security camera footage of suspicious activity to report it to the White Butte RCMP or their police of jurisdiction as soon as possible.  I would further direct ratepayers to NOT engage with these people and to call police from a safe distance.  The call takers will ask for a vehicle description and other information such as how many people did they see, clothing description and license plate information.

Stay safe, lock your vehicles and properties to help discourage theft in the community.
