Under the authority of The Dutch Elm Disease Regulations, 2005, all elm tree pruning in Saskatchewan is prohibited from April 01 through August 31, 2021. This ban is implemented to control the spread of elm bark beetles, which carry the fungus that causes Dutch Elm Disease. Fresh cuts from pruning healthy elm trees can attract elm bark beetles and increase the chance of an infection.

At any time of year, elm tree waste (branches, stumps, bark, etc.) is to be promptly disposed of at an approved elm tree disposal site where it is burned or buried. The approved disposal site for the RM of Sherwood is the City of Regina Landfill. Under no other circumstances should anyone transport elm wood. In the event that a disposal area is not available, contact the local Ministry of Environment office for further direction.
