The Zoning Bylaw was approved on March 21, 2019 by the Ministry of Government Relations.
The Rural Municipality of Sherwood No. 159’s Zoning Bylaw establishes and regulates the use of land by implementing the policies of the Municipality’s Official Community Plan. A zoning bylaw provides the Municipality with a legally enforceable means of regulating land use, scale, and intensity of development. Moreover, the Zoning bylaw also protects the aesthetics and function of land within the RM by protecting sensitive areas, limiting incompatible uses, and establishing appropriate standards for development within each Zoning district. This allows council to set standards reasonable standards for development and ensure effective service delivery to all residents and businesses within the RM and capital region.
