An official community plan is a comprehensive document created by municipalities which dictate public policy to guide important decisions within a municipality, such as: transportation, utilities/servicing, land use, recreation, and housing. The OCP relates to all land within the RM and discusses a broad range of topics, specifying short, medium, and long-term goals. The purpose of an OCP is to put a community vision into a policy framework. OCP’s are ‘living’ documents which are updated periodically to remain relevant and reflect current community goals and values. The RM of Sherwood No. 159 OCP was drafted in 2016 and formally approved on September 28, 2017 by the Ministry of Government Relations.
