CONTROLLED BURN NOTICE FORM

  • R.M. OF SHERWOOD NO. 159 BURN NOTICE INFORMATION

    1. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the controlled burn is supervised at all times.
    2. The applicant must provide a phone number at which they can be reached at all times during the burn.
    3. Controlled burns are allowable only during a maximum three (3) day period. If additional days are required, a new Controlled Burn Notice must be submitted.
    4. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the appropriate bodies stipulated on the notice form are notified prior to the burn.
    5. Burning garbage is not permitted. Garbage is to be disposed of at the City of Regina landfill located on Fleet Street, north of McDonald Street in the City of Regina’s northeast quadrant.
    6. Applicants may only burn clean, non-toxic material.
    7. If the City of Regina Fire Department receives a fire call within the Rural Municipality of Sherwood No. 159, and they have not received a Controlled Burn Notice, or if they can’t reach you at the number you provide, they will respond to the fire call and you will be invoiced for the emergency response call.
    8. In the event that a fire alarm, such as for fire suppression systems, should send an emergency alert to the City of Regina Fire Department, the company or person(s) holding title to the land will be invoiced for the fire call. If your alarm sends an emergency response signal to the City of Regina Fire Department and it is not an emergency (ex; the fire is controlled or there is no fire at all), please call the City of Regina Fire Department immediately to report a false alarm. You will be invoiced for the emergency response call out if the City of Regina Fire Department responds to your fire alarm call and they do not receive notification from you stating that it is a false alarm prior to emergency response equipment being dispatched.
    9. In the event that you notify the City of Regina Fire Department of a false alarm, and the City of Regina deems it necessary to continue the emergency response in order to ensure public safety, the company or person(s) holding title to the land will be invoiced for the fire call.
    10. All amounts owed to the Rural Municipality of Sherwood No. 159 that are left unpaid will be added to the tax roll of any parcel of land for which the person(s) or company responsible for the emergency fire call is the assessed person.

  • Burn safety measures, which can be considered to limit fire spread, include sufficient clear space between the fire and adjacent buildings, combustibles, the size and height of combustibles to be burned, the prevailing weather conditions, fire control measures such as extinguishers, hoses and water tanks and the design of the receptacle. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that smoke, fumes or other matter does not cause a nuisance to abutting landowners.
  • APPLICANTS MUST ENSURE THAT THE CONTROLLED BURN IS SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES. ALL FIRE CALL RESPONSES FROM THE CITY OF REGINA FIRE SERVICES, INCLUDING FLASE ALARMS, WILL BE INVOICED TO THE APPLICANT.
